This is a writing-centric gpsl steeped in character development with a dash of plot and a side of drama. We would like to see creative writers devoted to character building, interaction and a setting we can all build and watch grow. Please try to be inclusive and welcoming to your fellow writers. We love organic lines and open threads. You should have plenty of opportunity to meet activity with group events alone, but we want you to reach out beyond your established lines and get to know everyone. Highpointe Cliffs is a 500 acre resort on the central California coast. They employ hundreds of people in dozens of positions. If you can't think of a character idea or want to pitch something to us, hit the dropbox. While the focus is on the employees, there will be a few open spots for guests on a permanent or semi-regular basis. Lastly, no ic/ooc line crossing, godmodding or bullying bullshitery.
Joining Highpointe
Ic journal to join. We do look at examples before we add you to make sure your writing style would be a good fit for our group. We would like to see at least 2 example pieces, either threads or narratives/journal entries. If your application is deleted, it means we didn't feel your writing style was a good fit. Any questions are welcome via the dropbox regarding these requirements. You must have the basics up in your journal. Write out a bio or a detailed list of facts in whatever format you prefer. We would also like to see at least the following: full name, occupation, age, and any connections or family in game. If we don't think we see what we need to when you apply, we'll let you know. IC interaction will happen in Takeasteam. This includes threads, logs, IC posts, texts, media, etc. Hitthelinks is for all of your out of character needs such as intros, plotting, requests and away notices. Meetourstaff is for storylines and feelers. We will be employing tags, please use them. RP time never moves as easily as real time. Play at your own pace, try not to get too far ahead or behind. Seasonal events will be regular and help you gauge the pace in game. We will have a timeline of events that will act as a guide to past and future happenings. PB faces should be selected with common sense. No one under 18. Try and keep your character's age close to the face representing them and appropriate for their position. A good rule of thumb is +/- 5 years. Dropbox if you have questions. Character limits are within reason. Don't take more than you can handle, don't role or face-hog. Play what you have before taking more. Mod team reserves the right.
Updates & Activity
An active group is what keeps gpsl's like this alive. Posting once a month isn't going to cut it but you will get what you put into your experience here. That said, if you are here, please intro your character within three days of adds. If you are not posting, not commenting intros or other posts or making yourself present, you may risk being removed before the end of the month. You may reapply following an update. Please let us know if you expect to be away for any length of time.
FAQ
How big is Highpointe? Highpointe is 500 acres along the central Californa coast. It's large enough to have an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, three pools, a vineyard, stables with horseriding trails, an apiary, kitchen gardens, three guest accommodation centers and employee housing. About that, where will my character live? Employees can live in town or on the property in shared bungalows far from the guests eye. Only married couples are assigned mixed sex housing. Haven't you just seen Dirty Dancing one too many times? That, and likely Meatballs but we like the 'behind the scenes' concept. What if I want to play a guest? Three things to consider: 1) They would need to have a reason to frequent the resort on a regular basis for you to be active and involved. 2) They'd need to have the means to afford this. 3) It could segregate you some from 'staff' only communications and events. That said, pitch your ideas in the dropbox if you've got something interesting.
